I. SOME THOUGHTS FROM THE BIBLE

Genesis 1 [1] In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Romans 1 [20] For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, and his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

The reality of creation is there for all us to see, experience and investigate.

Psalm 139 [13] For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. [14] I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

This passages teaches us that human beings are purposely created by God. Genesis 1:26-27 and Genesis 2:21-22 also give us a recap of the real story of the sudden, abrupt creation of humanity. The idea that we evolved from lower life forms eventually into Homo sapiens is not taught in Scripture.

1 Peter 3 [15] Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

This verse in 1 Peter is a command to all Christians. The word answer is a legal term. A defense attorney develops a case to prove why his or her client is innocent of the charges against him or her. The attorney gives viable rational, reasonable arguments as to why the defendant couldn’t have committed the crime. Peter uses this term her admonishing us as followers of Christ to be ready to give some rational reasons to people who may ask us why we’re Christians – yet with gentleness and respect … not engaged in heated debate or arguments.

So, being able give basic, reasonable answers to anyone who asks us questions about our faith – including Does God Exist?is something that every believer in Christ should be ready to do.
