Detecting Heart Blockages

There are some things that get in the way of developing a healthy heart: spiritual heart blockages.

Heart blockages are anything that keeps us from living the life that God has for us. These heart blockages can often go undetected.

Psalm 109:22-23 “… my heart is wounded within me. I fade away like an evening shadow.”

Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

The starting place to detect heart blockages is doing what David did in his prayer here in the Psalms:

Psalm 139 [23] Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. [24] Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Ask yourself this question: What am I pretending not to know? What hurt am I simply trying to ignore?
