PASSAGE: John 14 [6] Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

INSIGHT: What did mean when he said he was the way? He is the way to eternal life with God forever. But, when he said he was the way, it also applies to our present lives. It means that he is the only avenue of access to this one and only God that we can’t see.

He is the way that God made the world (Colossians 1:15-16). Jesus is the way that people were made to function in relationships with each other. He is the way that people were made to live in harmony with God. He is the way that people were made to live and breath. Jesus is saying here that I am the source and giver of the life from above. Just as in the original creation, he is the giver of physical life.

As you think about Jesus, is he truly the way for you?

PRAYER FOCUS: “God, please help me to see Jesus as the way for me in how I do life.”

SPIRITUAL PRACTICE TODAY: Spend some time reflecting on how Jesus is the way in aspects of your own life. If you discover areas of your life where he isn’t the way, won’t you give him those areas of your life today.
